How it works
- 1
Pick a vehicle
Choose a standard truck or your own vehicle — fuel and typical consumption are filled in.
- 2
Enter the trip
Distance, and for forwarders every shipment on board: client, cargo, weight.
- 3
Get the report
WTW or TTW CO₂, intensity per km and a PDF ready to send to your client.
Built for transport and logistics
WTW & TTW
Well-to-Wheel for the full fuel life cycle, Tank-to-Wheel for direct emissions — switch with one click.
Official EU factors
Regulation (EU) 2022/996, JRC JEC v5 and RED II/III — monitored and updated by our team.
CO₂ per shipment
Forwarders split a truck's CO₂ between clients by tonne-kilometres, following the GLEC Framework.
PDF reports
A clean, branded report per trip, shipment or client — ready to attach to an invoice.
Telematics data
Connect Mapon to calculate from real CAN fuel and distance data instead of estimates.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between WTW and TTW emissions?
Tank-to-Wheel (TTW) covers only what the engine emits while driving. Well-to-Wheel (WTW) adds the upstream part — producing, refining and transporting the fuel — so it shows the full fuel life cycle. Use TTW when you're asked for direct (tailpipe) emissions and WTW for a complete carbon footprint.
Which emission factors does CO2Calc use?
Official EU sources: Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/996 and the JRC JEC Well-to-Wheels study v5 for diesel and fossil LNG, and Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (RED II/III) for HVO and Bio-LNG. Our team monitors these sources and updates the factors when official values change.
Is CO2Calc free?
Yes. The calculator is free to use. Quick calculations need no account; a free account lets you keep your calculation history, fleets and client base.
How is a truck's CO₂ split between several shipments?
For freight forwarders, the truck's CO₂ for the trip is allocated to each shipment by its share of tonne-kilometres (weight × distance), following the GLEC Framework. You get the CO₂ per shipment and per client, with a PDF for each.
Which fuels are covered?
Diesel, fossil LNG, Bio-LNG (from manure), HVO from rapeseed and HVO from waste oils. Electric vehicles, petrol, LPG and CNG are not covered, because there is no single verified EU factor we could apply to them.
Can I send the result to my client?
Yes. Every calculation can be downloaded as a branded PDF report that shows the result in the scope you chose (WTW or TTW), the distance, the fuel and the method used.
Can I use real data from my telematics?
Transport companies using Mapon can connect their API key: CO2Calc then reads the real fuel use and distance from the vehicles' CAN data for any period.
